" Justice" A Special Needs White Tail Deer Needs Help to SurviveWe have a special needs Piebald deer named Justice that has to have leg splints in the hope that we can straighten his legs out enough to be usable. So far we have the 2 front legs splinted, the 2 rear legs we are still working on. Due to his coloration and disability he will not be releasable to the wild. He will go to a sanctuary. He will have to have frequent vet visits to adjust the splints and allow him to survive. ** UPDAT
We currently have 24 Opossums in care. They drink Esbilac Goats Milk Formula. To that we add Brewers Yeast, Egg, Calcium , Nutrical, and Apple juice. We are currently going thru a tremendous amount of formula and that is only going to increase as they grow.
Average consumption of Esbilac Formula is 8 lbs of powdered a week, which runs 130.00 a 5 lb bag for the raccoons. Consumption will only increase as they grow. They also get Puppy chow and fresh fruit and vegetables. They seriously need toys to play with. Raccoons are very smart and need constant stimulation. They stay in care longer than Opossum since they nurse longer and take more time to wean.
We DESPERATELY need puppy pads and litter. The bigger the better! Cages are changed at least twice a day and litter pans as needed.
Please remember we do this out of pocket for the love of wildlife. We survive on our own paychecks and what donations we get from the public. We are not subsidized in any way from any other entity. We do not have adoption fees to look forward so we constantly struggle. We do not turn wildlife away, we simply adjust.
